Description

A skincare stalwart that first launched in 1999, the cruelty-free brand’s most famous product has now gathered a massive 2. As our tester’s skin is sensitive, we didn’t tend to use it twice daily, instead opting for just once. The sodium salt form of PCA is an important skin-identical ingredient and great natural moisturizer that helps the skin to hold onto water and stay nicely hydrated. From perfumes and body creams to mascaras and lipsticks, there is always an almost identical and cheaper alternative for any expensive staple - if you look hard enough. I rinse my muslin cloth out well between each face wipe and use a clean patch each time, as you don’t want to be rubbing make-up and dirt back on your face.

With the rose one, I’ve had no absolutely no issues of dryness and it hasn’t irritated my skin either. Unfortunately, although it boasts soothing ingredients in the larger text at the top of the blurb, a closer look at the wider ingredient list reveals that the product sneakily contains “parfum”, which means they’ve used artificial fragrance. Some said they preferred the cheap version to PIXI and other high-end brands, as one person said: "Excellent really good for my skin and a lot cheaper than top brands. If you are a lover of the Pixi Glow Tonic then I would highly recommend trying the Lacura Healthy Glow. I’ve struggled with a lot of day creams as I find they don’t keep my skin moisturised or again, affect my makeup base (oh the joys of combination skin!Like the Pixi one it’s mostly almond and jojoba oil, plus (with the help of google) pomegranate, rosehip, vit E, orange peel extract, “sweet scented geranium”(? This combo of power ingredients was created to brighten, tones and condition your skin, as well as gradually diminishing signs of sun damage, fine lines, scarring and other imperfections.

One place that has become the go-to for beauty enthusiasts recently has been Aldi, with its Lacura range gaining cult-like status over the years. I haven’t tried the rose variation of the actual Pixi toner, so I can’t compare on the scent, but this does smell lovely.

The best way to describe what I am rambling about is to define it more as the same texture as a water based Serum, where you can tell its watery but its thick at the same time. But, with Pixi glow tonic seen as a brightening exfoliator to reveal healthy-looking skin, how does the cheaper Aldi dupe fare on the face? As Aldi dupes go, this offering has to be one of the closest in styles to its cult-classic inspiration. My blog is a complete mix of chatter about travel, mid-size + petite style, life and just about everything else in between all from a 5ft1 gal's perspective!
