The change can often be quite dramatic with faded colour restored to the original colour of the item. You may wish to take before and after pictures! It’s easy to create a DIY leather cleaner with a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar. Sardone recommends using this mixture with a microfiber cloth, “rubbing the leather in a circular motion to lift the dirt out of the natural fibers.” To eliminate spots and dirt from leather, Sardone offers the following recipe: The cleaner lifts dirt and grime from the leather. It also restores and rejuvenates old and dull looking leather. Our Leather Ultra Clean is an award-winning leather sofa cleaner that is great for sofas, chairs, furniture and all other items of leather upholstery. It deep cleans into the grain removing dirt and grime easily; making it one of the best leather sofa cleaners available. If you want to learn about our leather sofa cleaner and how to get the best results, have a read of our guide - How to clean a leather sofa Leather Car Seat Cleaner You may need to clean the aniline leather 2 or 3 times to see a good difference. This is because as you clean some dirt off, more can surface from within the leather. However, if you have protected the leather from new, you won't get this problem and it will be easy to clean.

Before choosing a leather cleaner, you’ll first need to know what type of items you need to clean and whether they’re genuine leather or faux leather. Sardone advises reading the product label on any cleaner you’re considering before using it. White vinegar & soap: Combine 1 cup of white vinegar, ½ cup of coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon of washing-up liquid in a bowl (more for bigger sofas). Apply the cleaning solution to a soft cloth and wipe over your couch.According to Sardone, you’ll want to dust leather once a week with a cloth or a soft-bristled vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Once per month, use a good leather cleaner (one of the products on this list or a DIY mixture). Ideally, about once every three months, condition your leather items, though you could get by with applying a cream conditioner once or twice per year. Sardone adds that leather can dry out if you don’t treat it, especially for items stored in dry heat, like near a fireplace or direct sunlight. The best cleaner for leather sofas depends on the type of leather used to upholster your furniture. Leather can vary significantly in texture and finish, and each type requires a specific approach when it comes to cleaning.

Thoroughly spray the leather with the gentle leather cleaner, lightly scrub the leather in circular motions with the leather cleaning brush. Wipe off all residue. Very Lightly wipe over the leather with a leather cleaning sponge (very lightly is key as these can be aggressive on some leather types). If dirt is still ingrained in the leather repeat the process but with the intense leather cleaner. Wipe off all residue and wait for the leather to dry or use a hairdryer to speed up this process. Meanwhile, grease stains are typically best removed with washing-up liquid, whereas water stains can be removed with – ironically – distilled water. Instead, we'll turn the cleaner into a foam to make it clean easier. If your aniline leather is brand new and doesn't need to be cleaned, make sure you apply the Leather Protection Cream first. PRODUCTS REQUIRED Having the right tools for the job is crucial to cleaning leather correctly, we recommend a leather cleaning brush, microfiber towel, leather cleaning sponge and our gentle leather cleaner with our leather conditioner cream.

Always begin from the top of your couch, making sure to wipe the cleaner into all areas. This includes all the nooks and crannies, such as between the seat cushions and the crevices between the armrests. After you’ve covered your sofa in conditioner, use a clean cloth to buff the leather gently. This removes any excess conditioner and leaves a beautiful shine. Although you will be cleaning with a foam, the aniline leather can and probably still will absorb the cleaner - it will just take longer to do so. Because of this, it is difficult to see how effective your cleaning is until the leather dries out. This is a photo of some aniline leather. As you now know from the above information, aniline leather is very absorbent and so you shouldn't spray the Leather Cleaner directly onto it. The leather would just soak it up preventing it from working.
