About this deal

In our opinion, there's nothing worse than the dreaded drone of a noisy fan on a hot day. If you opt for a cheap fan then noise is likely to be a compromise you may need to make, but if you can find a more expensive model in the sale then your ears may well thank you. Most fans – at least those that aren't trying to hide anything! – will inform you of their noise levels in the technical specifications. This is measured in decibels and often marked dB. The quietest fan we've tested is the Duux Whisper Flex Ultimate Fan which measures from just 13dB on its lowest speed setting to a maximum of 50dB on its highest setting. Noise can be especially important if you plan to use the fan to help you keep a bedroom cool and don't want it to disturb your sleep. Timer Needless to say, mine still managed to go missing a few years ago, but getting a replacement wasn’t hard at all. I’d say when operating the fan from the unit itself, the buttons are a little awkward to press, so you really want to look after the remote – especially when using regularly during the summertime. To make the most of its features, our tester found it's best to employ 'continuous monitoring' and 'auto' mode, whereby the purifying fan heater will continuously monitor air quality, temperature, and humidity information, display results on the LCD screen and in the Dyson Link Smart app, and on-board sensors will adjust the settings of the machine accordingly.

Rated 5100BTU, the EcoFlow Wave 2 is enough for around a 10m², so smaller rooms, camper vans and tents. On maximum power, we found that it could keep our office room at sensible temperatures, although we did have to shield our south-facing room from the sun for it to cope. Not all fans will oscillate, but they’re much better at circulating air if they can. For personal use, oscillation isn’t quite as important; however, the best bladeless fans will oscillate between 180 – 360 ° . This makes them more versatile overall, and better for use when more than one person is in the room. Gentler than the icy chill of a portable air conditioner, using far less energy, and costing less to run, a fan is a very useful heatwave essential that really does make a difference to wellbeing in the hotter months. Which is the quietest fan? A couple of negatives to mention. The first is that this fan doesn’t come with a remote control. It needs to be adjusted using the control panel so, if you’re changing the settings at night, you will need to get out of bed. There’s also no timer function which is a little disappointing given the price of this fan. With a convenient carry handle, this fan can be lifted and moved from room to room if needed. There’s also a built-in area for storing the remote control when not in use. If you want a bladeless fan for personal use, or to use in your home office, choose a small, compact desk fan. A fan of 60 cm or less is the best height to sit on a desk, side table, or bedside table. WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL - Effortlessly control our hot and cold air purifier fan, adjusting settings remotely for maximum convenience.

This fan also has an 8 hour timer. While not quite as impressive as a 12 hour timer, this will help you control the usage and, in turn, your energy bill. While it looks like a regular desk fan, this budget-friendly unit from LifePlus may surprise you with its excellent heating capabilities. It doesn’t oscillate, but you can tilt it from a 15- to 45-degree angle to point the airflow right where you need it. The unit has just one knob with color-coded settings, which makes it very user-friendly. Simply turn the knob to the blue side (cool) to select one of two fan speeds and to the red side (hot) to control the heating power of the electrical coil inside the unit, either 750 or 1,500 watts. Unlike many of the units on this list, it does not come with a remote or a sleep timer. Based on our long-term testing, our best overall fan is the Lasko FH500 Fan & Space Heater Combo Tower. Tall and powerful while also being relatively quiet, this fan oscillates to circulate cold air throughout the room and has a ceramic heater/fan mode to help move hot air as well. We also love the Dyson HP01 Pure Hot + Cool Air Purifier, our best splurge option. In addition to its sleek design, it offers 10 fan speeds and air purification, and it can be used in spaces up to 800 square feet. What to Look for in a Combination Fan and Heater Temperature Control

This 75-watt unit comes with a remote control and offers three fan speeds (low, medium, and high), three wind modes (sleep, normal, and natural), and a sleep timer. You can also operate these features easily on the control panel at the top of the unit. The slats on the front of the unit can be adjusted up to 70 degrees up or down, and they oscillate 120 degrees from side to side in “swing” mode. While it’s not the most stylish or portable option on our list, it’s mounted on heavy-duty wheels (caster) that allow you to roll it around your home for indoor and outdoor use. DIVERSE COLOUR OPTIONS - Enhance your home décor with our stylish and cool fan, available in many chic colours to perfectly suit your interior design preferences. Firstly, we consider its power, looking at the strength of each setting and the difference between them. To do this, we use an anemometer to understand how much air it blows, measured in feet per minute. The greater the range of speeds and the wider the difference between them, the more you can adjust the fan to suit you. At full power, the fan delivered air speed at 4.8m/s, which only dropped at 2.8m/s at one metre and an effective 1.6m/s at two metres. That’s enough air speed to keep you cool at a distance, making the VonHaus 35″ Tower Fan a suitable fan to cool an entire room. Our one minor complaint about fan speed is that the lowest setting is still a relatively powerful 4m/s at 1m – we’d have liked a slightly lower minimum speed.

We measure each fan’s noise levels to find the quietest models for dozing off to, as well as its energy efficiency to find out how affordable it is to run, and its oscillation range to see how well the fan distributes air around a room. I would have liked the Vortex to be a bit taller (it’s 85.6cm compared to the Dyson at 100.7cm), as it think this would help keep you cool with tasks such as reading in bed, but it certainly isn’t a problem when you’re lying down. Firstly, from a design perspective it looks very sleek and modern. I went with the traditional white and grey, as it fits in with my bedroom decor, but it actually has 8 different colour combinations to choose from for those with more adventurous tastes! COST-EFFECTIVE CLIMATE CONTROL - Achieve the perfect balance of climate comfort and energy savings with our A+ rated, energy-efficient bladeless fan heater and cooler. There are downsides beyond its price point; namely the fact that this fan requires self-assembly – you'll only have to do it once, but if you're already a little hot and bothered from the heat then it's a bit of an annoyance. And, unlike the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator which excels at simplicity of use, this Duux fan really has little toomuch functionality – does anyone really need 30 speed settings? – and its awkward controls make it a faff to operate at times. Although it does offer Smart functionality when connected to WiFi if you're keen to connect a fan to your Google Home hub or Alexa. We measured air flow at 3.8m/s at 15cm, dropping to a powerful 2.1m/s at 1m. This fan is quiet, too, ranging between 39.25dB and 56.8dB. On ‘quiet’ mode, which is the lowest fan setting, the noise is minimal, and suitable for most people to sleep with – it doesn’t deliver a particularly strong flow of air, but when positioned nearby seems sufficient for keeping cool on warm nights. ENERGY SAVING - This energy-efficient hot and cool fan, also a bladeless heater fan, conserves energy while maintaining a comfortable atmosphere. Introducing the revolutionary Vortex Air Turbo, the ultimate solution for year-round home temperature control. This appliance is a true masterpiece of engineering, designed to provide maximum comfort in any weather condition. Its dual functionality of rapid heating and cooling capabilities make it the perfect addition for anyone seeking comfort during both freezing winters and scorching summers. Combining an air purifier with an oscillating fan, the U ULTTY Bladeless Fan with Air Purifier filters and cleans whilst it cools.
