Description

Introducing Miss Ottoline Brown, an exceptionally inquisitive Mistress of Disguise, and her partner in crime, Mr Munroe. Ottoline and the Yellow Cat is a quirky mystery-adventure from Chris Riddell, author of the award-winning Goth Girl books. Riddell's illustrations have a complexity similar to Elenor Davis's The Secret Science Alliance and the Copycat Crook with a style that is reminiscent of Edward Gorey and Ian Falconer. Ottoline's parents are never seen during the book, but Ottoline's mother writes her postcards from wherever they are. They refer to Ottoline as "O", and call each other Ma and Pa. Pa is mentioned in the postcards, but he never writes her one himself. Ma seems to know that Ottoline got a diploma and that the Bear is now living with them in Apartment 243. Ma and Pa send Ottoline gifts from many companies to take care of her. Ottoline is going to join Ma and Pa's adventures when she is older. They have many collections from other countries. This is the perfect series for fans of The Sinclair's Mysteries, Murder Most Unladylike, the Mysterious Benedict Society Series, Alice Elcair and the Adventures on Trains series.

Ottoline lives in a stylish apartment in Big City with a small hairy creature called Mr Munroe. Together they look after the Brown family's eclectic collections - and dabble in a spot of detective work. So they are the first to the scene of the crime when a string of high-society dog-nappings and jewel thefts hits Big City. I was attracted to Chris Riddell's work mainly because of the fascinating illustrations he did for Neil Gaiman. To my delight, I discovered the Ottoline series and this is the first installment I read (and also the 3rd book in the series, I just found out). After a lot of hard work by Mr. Munroe and lot of planning and help from the Service Agencies, Ottoline and Mr. Munroe do manage to catch the notorious jewellery thief and hand her to the Police. The pet dogs are reunited with their owners, some of them actually hated their owners, because they insisted on taking them to a pet saloon. And which dog likes that?

Pored toga sto je knjiga ispunjena prelepim ilustracijama(normalno) , nju prati i vrlo zabavna prica 😊When Ottoline realises that Mr Munroe has left, she becomes very upset, and determines to go and find him, along with her assistant, the bear. Their adventure includes trips on a submarine, a seaplane and a Polynesian raft. The book is filled with countless adventures with a surprising ending. Walking home, Ottoline and Mr. Munroe stop at 4th Street books. There they meet another girl who looks remarkably akin to Ottoline. The girl, named Myrrh Treesister, has a hairy friend named Miss Macintosh who is the spitting image of Mr. Munroe. Ottoline decides to invite Myrrh to a dinner party that she is hosting next evening.

There is just one thing that I am still hoping for. That we will meet Ottoline's parents once. Even if it is a flash-visit, I would still love to see them come home. In a quirky blend of the familiar and fantastical, this book should appeal to the young, even the exceptionally resistant, reader. Ottoline is a seemingly ordinary little girl with a penchant for wearing unusual mismatched shoes, who lives in a high-rise apartment building with Mr Munroe, a hairy bog creature. Her parents are professional explorers who are away in Norway searching for the elusive Quite Big Foot, and they send Ottoline her own Amateur Roving Collector's Pass that she could use for her next holiday. As Ottoline is planning her next trip and furiously reading up and buying up travelling gear, Mr Munroe suddenly disappears. With the clues he leaves behind, Ottoline embarks on an adventure in search of her friend, together with the help of a Canadian Bear she meets in the laundry room at the basement of her building, who should be hibernating but had decided to take a little vacation himself in the apartment building. We meet 2 Foxes, a girl who looks like Ottoline (and even has a hairy friend just like Ottoline has), it was just a delight. I was a bit looking forward to some sort of twist though as to why the girl was so similar to Ottoline. But nothing really happens with it, the only thing that happens is that they are both amazed, and keep saying the same sentence. Chris has been honoured with an OBE in recognition of his illustration and charity work.Chris lives in Brighton with his family.
