For each riding mode (TURBO, EMTB/SPORT, TOUR, ECO) the power of the motor itself can be adjusted. The assistance can be adjusted according to the speed, but the original settings remain, so that you can very easily choose between your own and preset modes while riding. This is done with the WALK button. There are now four different settings for assistance per driving level. The tried and tested "dynamic mode", which controls the motor noticeably softer, is still available and can now be combined with the standard mode or a custom setting. The speed display only briefly jumps to a different value so that you can see which mode is active. A few words about the eMTB mode and the TOUR+ mode: In these two modes, the level of support changes with the pedal force. For example, the support in eMTB mode is not a constant 210%, but can also be significantly lower at low pedal torque, but also significantly higher at higher torque. If your bike is equipped with the eMTB mode or also with the TOUR+ mode, you can specifically switch off these modes by activating the alternative mode.

As an example, Figure 1 shows the assistance of a Performance Line CX motor in TOUR mode at a set limit of 32km/h. At about 30km/h the motor starts to limit the power and when exceeding 33km/h there is no motor support at all. Briefly pressing the WALK button activates the dynamic mode and the display briefly shows 11km/h as an indication. The throttle now also starts at 30km/h, but ends at 36km/h. In this blog post we are going to review the VOLspeed V4 tuning chip and explain the main differences compared to the V3 version. Before we start, please note that removing the speed limit on your eBike can void your warranty, derestricted eBikes are illegal and only to be used on private land. It is no problem to fit the VOLspeed V4 tuning module to the BOSCH engine. Activation and control are automatic and no setup is required. Since the VOLspeed for the Pro2 also includes a few new features that were not previously available on our V3, we are also bringing a new module for the Syncdrive Sport, Pro, Life and Core drives. Pro Tip: If you ride with your display in mp/h, switch it to km/h so it matches exactly with what's written in the manual. Now one thing that can be particularly daunting for eBike owners is installing the device. Fortunately installing these on eBikes with Gen4 Bosch motors only requires a basic toolkit and some patience if you have a particularly tight motor housing (Whyte e160 owners will know all about this!). The V4 also comes with a detailed instruction manual for those that want to test out all the features available. Verdict With some of these chips a short countdown will appear on the display after completing a ride. Riders can just let the display turn itself off to ensure that accurate distances are recorded.
