Description

Gran Patrón Burdeos is another aged premium Tequila from Hacienda Patrón. It's an amazing triple-distilled Tequila that ages in various barrels. First aged for a year in former Bourbon barrels, then for another ten months in French oak barrels, and eventually in former Bordeaux wine barrels for another two months. Patrón may be one of the largest tequila brands yet it remains one of the most artisanal with 1,800 people working at Hacienda del Patrón, its distillery. They continue producing two different batches of their spirit, which are then blended. One is made by grinding the agave with the help of a traditional stone tahona mill and is fermented with agave fibers. The other one crushes the piñas with a modern roller shredder. Smell the tequila: Take a moment to smell the tequila. Anejo tequilas are aged for at least a year, which gives them a rich, complex aroma. The Citrónge contains a variety of fruity liqueurs based on their standard Tequila. The original flavor was orange and popular as a substitute for Triple Sec in a Margarita.

The pinewood the fermentation vessels are made of imparts no flavour but the wood's pores harbour microbes and importantly the wood helps insulate against temperature extremes. These traditional wooden fermenters need replacing every five years so are expensive to maintain as well as being labour-intensive to clean between fermentations. Hence, most other major producers use stainless steel fermenters. Water In terms of appearance, Patron Silver comes in a bottle bearing Patron’s signature style. The clear bottle is topped with a vibrant green ribbon and a large rounded cork. To the artistic eye, a bottle of Patron Silver evokes the perfect blend of simplicity and sophistication. Distillation

Patron Tequila is made from the blue agave plant and is a distilled spirit. It contains alcohol, which can be damaging to the liver and other organs if consumed excessively or over a prolonged period. Unlike the roller-mill fermenters which only hold mosto (agave juice), the Tahona crushed agave fermentation includes both mosto and bagasse (juice saturated agave fibre). The activity of the yeast helps drive the fibres to the surface where they float and form a crust that creates a partial seal.

When pouring your Patron Tequila, aim for a small pour of around 1 to 2 ounces. This will allow you to savor the tequila slowly and appreciate its unique flavor profile. As with other aspects of the production process at Patrón, the pot stills are tiny compared to most tequila producers and are constructed from copper rather than the cheaper, longer-lasting stainless-steel stills used by many others. The benefit of copper is that it reacts with alcohol vapours in the still to sacrificially remove bad-tasting sulphur from the distillate. All the stills are steam-heated via copper serpentines in the base of each still. However, it’s important to note that mixing alcohol can have different effects on different people, and it’s always advisable to drink in moderation. Additionally, it’s essential to be aware of the alcohol content of the drink and to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery after consuming alcohol. Pour the tequila: Pour a small amount of Patron Anejo Tequila into your glass. You don’t need to fill it all the way up – just pour enough to give you a taste. Most other tequila distilleries buy their yeast from third-party suppliers or take the chance on naturally occurring air-bone and surface yeasts. However, Patrón propagates their own proprietary yeast strain, originally found naturally on agave plants, using a three-stage propagation process moving to ever-larger propagation vessels, every 24 hours, as the number of yeast cells multiplies: 450 litre to 4,500 litres and finally 10,000 litres. The piña is the heart of the agave plant and in the case of Patrón, and other 100% agave tequilas, this is the source of all the sugars used in the fermentation. Patrón ensures a continuous supply of high-quality piña by having long-term contracts with its suppliers, mostly family-owned farms. Cola : A tequila and cola mix is known as a Charro Negro. The cola’s sweetness pairs well with the tequila’s earthy and fruity notes, making for a refreshing and easy-to-make drink. Coca-Cola is the most popular brand used in this mix. As with any alcoholic beverage, excessive consumption of Patron Tequila can be harmful to your health. However, when consumed in moderation, Patron Tequila is generally considered safe for most adults. With the launch of Patrón El Cielo and the Patrón Perfectionists 2024 under way, db learns how premium Tequila is establishing new routes to mentorship

Chill the bottle: Place the bottle of tequila in the freezer for a few hours or in the fridge for a few days before serving. This will help to enhance the flavors and aromas of the tequila. Grapefruit Soda: Tequila and grapefruit soda make for a classic pairing known as a Paloma. The tartness of the grapefruit complements the sweetness of the tequila and balances out the alcohol. Squirt, Fresca, and Jarritos are popular brands of grapefruit soda. In the Tahona distillation, the first primario distillation takes place in 750 litre capacity still and takes two hours. This Tahona distillation is with both mosto (agave juice) and bagasse (juice saturated fibre). Patrón is one of only a handful of distilleries to use fibre in the distillation process. The second Tahona distillation is in an even smaller 550 litre capacity still. In case you need to feel worse about your career trajectory, or seek new reasons to believe in your dreams, you can always remind yourself that Patrón co-founder John Paul DeJoria once worked as a janitor. Did we mention he’s now friends with Dirty Harry? Yeah, he’s doing all right. It’s Mexican tequila, but the label’s a shout-out to the U.S. Navy. No matter which type of Patron Tequila you choose, there are a few general guidelines to follow when it comes to drinking it. First, be sure to serve it chilled, but not too cold. This will help to enhance the flavors and aromas of the tequila.

People drink Patron because they know that they can count on its uncompromising quality every time. This means that when people drink Patron, they know that they’re getting what they’re paying for, and what they’re paying for, is perfection. Building on its longstanding commitment to inspire and nurture the hospitality industry, the Patrón Perfectionists programme has also, according to Mote, “further enriched its digital hub – Academia Patrón – providing an engaging educational ecosystem and access to mentoring sessions with the world’s leading on-trade personalities available all year long”.

With this unusual setup, they are able to produce their Tequila in small batches using the same techniques as at the beginning.Like most other tequilas, Patrón tequilas are double-distilled, except for and Gran Patrón Platinum which are triple-distilled. Blending In 2005, the brand sold half a million cases per year. And another year down the road, they hit the million-cases-per-year mark. In 2018, the Bacardi Group bought the brand. As you would expect, the acquisition was not cheap. The buying price was just over 5 billion dollars. Range of Patrón Tequila Types Although Patrón specifies ripe agave and rejects overripe agave due to the vinegar-like notes these bring to the tequila. While red spots, a sign of ripeness are desirable, any more than seven per piña is unacceptable. Despite the loss in weight resulting from such close trimming of the piña, Patrón require that the minimum weight of each piña received at the distillery is at least 10kgs, this requirement is for safety reasons as more accidents occur when trying to spit very small piña on the patio prior to loading the ovens. (6kg of piña is required to produce one litre of tequila.)
